It is an unfortunate opportunity that urges me to write a review of warning and concern. Of particular is the leadership at The House - namely DJ. It was by chance that I happened to interact with him. My son was established in the Lighthouse Christian Academy by his mother, and I would not give my blessing to this education there. I did not move in time through the courts to block his involvement, but thought, "He is there, it's probably worse to try to remove him now." I think that may have been an error.
I prompted DJ and shared this him my interest being involved with my son's socialization and academics. Unfortunately... I didn't hear much back. My son, in the hands of these people five times daily haven't made any attempt to abridge me of his development, have not after months even given me a name for his teacher.
When I gently challenged their Facebook promotional with my own insights of my son's behavior -the exclusivity, judgement, conformity and my distaste of it, I was banned - as a parent - from making public comments about the fruits borne in my son from their education.
DJ, whose team of teachers, councilors, elders, or pastors, had failed to inform me even of the teacher's name, did not take well to me "friending" anyone on their Facebook page. I did write to another mother of a child in my son's class, and inquired if we could do a play-date at some point (I really wanted to assuage my feelings that this wasn't cult-like behavior I was seeing).
DJ's response to me was personal, judgmental and unprofessional. I too here and now could get personal, but this review is for the public, who may be looking for spiritual leadership, decency, and the altruism of Truth... thus far, my experience has proven to me more cause for concern for exclusivity, isolation, and some -what I would consider - foundation of cult making.
